A few months ago my vehicle came up for a Taxi Test by the Councils representatives in Dumfries. Took the car in to a place where everyone had a face like a horse at a bar, and was duly told my car had failed due to a broken steering column and a tyre which had less than 3 ml traed on it. As I had been for a pre test check the day before I knew the car and the tyres where in perfect condition, so I duly complained to the council and went to re test the car the next day with the chief examiner/tester. Naturally, the car passed and I was told that the other examiner would be talked to 'in house' and that I shouldn't rattle any more cages. As I live in the Stewartry, I have a choice of where to rest my car, so 6 months later I took the car to Stranraer for the test. People at the licensing couldn't understand why, but we had a nice family day out at the same time. The councils representative in Stranraer was pleaseant, friendly and treated me with respect, and passed my car without any fuss whatsoever. I do all my testing at Stranraer now...not a stressful experience anymore.
